NPF calls for ‘more realistic’ SOP

Dimapur, June 12 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Friday urged the government to work on a realistic Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the state.

While calling upon the citizens, especially the returnees, to strictly follow the government’s SOP, the party also urged the Government not to change the SOP frequently and adhere to it sincerely.

The NPF party also asked the PDA Government to divulge on what grounds the already negative and recovered cases are being kept in the quarantine centres and for how many days. “As it will be real harassment to lock them under the quarantine centres for long if they are safe enough, it reasoned.

In this regard, the party urged upon the Government to work on a realistic SOP.

It stated that, in contrast to the “well prepared” claims of the government, many loopholes could be seen.

Questioning the reason for the rapid rise in cases, The NPF said that if the Government is well prepared, by now it should be clear that the spread of the virus can be controlled. But the sad reality is that the government of the day is still not successful in controlling the spread of the virus, it stated.

The NPF also questioned how many days it will take for the government to set up the BSL-3 lab in Dimapur when each day the number of positive cases is increasing.

“If the machine at Dimapur cannot be made a reality till date, setting up a similar machine at Tuensang will be like a dream,” NPF said.

Meanwhile the NPF also suggested that the government should involve maximum medical personnel and medical department should be given independent charges in handling the cases rather than involving the bureaucrats.

Stating that the state has sufficient fund from the centre, the NPF called for more procurement of testing kits and compulsory rapid test to all the returnees to ensure safety before releasing them from the quarantine centres.

Department like Social Welfare, Food and Civil Supplies and Disaster Management should be fully involved as frontliners, the party opined.

Apart from the District hospitals, all the PHC and dispensaries in each village should be well equipped and the medical attendants must be compulsorily stationed, it added. The NPF party also said that positive patients need to be given a proper care both medically and psychologically.

The Government should have better coordination with all the tribal Hohos and Churches, it said.
