The Naga People’s Front (NPF) in its Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting here today resolved to support the Nagaland cabinet decision of January 6, 2025, seeking consideration and withdrawal of the re-imposed Protected Area Permit (PAP) and urged the Government of India to act in the interest of Nagaland and its people.
The meeting, held at NPF Central Office, Kohima, also resolved to continuously support the ongoing peace process and reaffirmed its commitment for an honourable, acceptable and inclusive solution to the Naga political issue.
The CEC resolved that the merger of the two political parties into one unified regional platform is undertaken in the paramount interest of the Naga people, to strengthen “our shared value, preserve our identity, and advance a common regional vision.”
Stating that this resolution reaffirmed its commitment to unity and collective aspiration, the NPF party called upon all like- minded regional forces to join this united effort while also seeking the continued support and confidence of the people to build a stronger future for the Naga community.
After thorough deliberation, the House resolved to create separate NPF Divisions for Meluri, Chumoukedima and Shamator.
The appointment of the office bearers of those Divisions shall be done in accordance with the provisions laid down under Clause 5B of Article IV of the party constitution, the resolution stated.
Further, the House resolved to amend certain provisions in the party constitution and constituted a Constitution Amendment Committee with NSF Secretary General as convenor, convenor central legal cell as member secretary and presidents of the central women, youth and farmers wing as members.
The House also resolved to authorise the NPF President to constitute a Central Finance Committee.
Earlier, Chief Minister and NPF president Dr. Neiphiu Rio delivered presidential address while President Emeritus Chingwang Konyak administered oath to the newly appointed Division president, COB, CEC, Frontal and Cells.
The programme was chaired by NPF working president Pusazo Luruo while Abu Metha, working president delivered welcome address.
Later, NPF Secretary General Achumbemo Kikon chaired the business session while vote of thanks was proposed by working president H. Chuba Chang.
