Phek, March 1 (MExN): The 17th Chizami A/C unit of the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) has resolved to restrain the four office bearers from attending the DAC meeting convened through a summon letter issued on February 20.
The summon was issued with regard to an open letter to the NPF President on February 17, demanding that the president and leader of opposition should also be suspended going by the reasons cited by the party’s Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) while suspending sitting Rajya Sabha MP, KG Kenye.
“The intention of the open letter to the NPF President was solely to uphold justice within the party as no one is above the Party’s constitution. However, the NPF 17th Chizami Area Unit is surprised to see summon letter being served to the four signatories of the open letter,” the unit stated in a letter to the chairman of DAC.
The letter was appended by the unit’s vice president, Kewekhalo Rhakho; general secretary, Kholie Lasuh; secretaries, Ciekrohu, Zalezo Vero, Veli Medeo, Paovi Lea and Keweko Kenye, press secretary, Elah; president, youth wing, Wekekhe Tsido; president, farmers wing, Vepocuyi Lohe and president, women wing, Dezelie Thopi.
“The DAC is expected to examine the matter and take appropriate action against and suspend the two prime accused NPF members - Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu and TR Zeliang however; on the contrary, the DAC is trying to bury the faults of the two leaders just because they are occupying high position in the party,” it said.
By issuing summon letter, the unit said it has become “crystal clear that DAC is functioning as a puppet to a few NPF leaders with vested interests who are in total and doctorial control over the pathetic and hopeless DAC.”
“When DAC can be very thorough and specific with the contents of 1st para in Sl No 5 of the show cause reply by Dr Lorho S Pfoze,” the unit wondered “as to how and why DAC has hidden or overlooked the 2nd para in the same page where the opinion of Zeliang was clearly mentioned and where president NPF has clearly directed Dr Lorho S Pfoze MP to support the new rectified CAB in the event of exemption clause being introduced as appeared in Sl No 4 of the same reply.”
Thus, the unit in its meeting held on February 23 resolved to restrain the four office bearers from attending the DAC meeting being fixed on March 2 at NPF Central Office or any meeting with the Central NPF Party unless it is clarified as to whether the documentary proofs: "President’s support letter to BJP government in Manipur state and to BJP government in New Delhi; President Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu directing MP Dr Lorho to vote for the CAB if it is different from 2016 Bill and contains protective (exemption) clause for us; TR Zeliang, NPF legislature party leader appearing in various media that if exemption provision is included in the new Bill NPF would support; and NPF press statement of October 9, 2019 welcoming union home minister Amit Shah’s statement of assurance therefore are true or false.”
“The NPF 17th Chizami area unit shall continue to strive towards upholding justice within the NPF Party since no member is above the Party’s Constitution,” the letter read.
