DIMAPUR, February 7 (MExN): The NPF has claimed to have “no knowledge, or role in the alleged move of some village authorities to allow the head of the family to cast the entire votes on behalf of the family.” This it stated in a press release, referring to NPCC’s complaint on poll malpractices.
Reminding that the complainant, Medokul Sophie, NPCC General Secretary, alleged that such malpractices were also adopted on a large scale during the last election in 2008, and the authorities at that time did nothing to stop such malpractices, the NPF’s press release from press and media bureau stated that “This act of the Congress is nothing but an exposure of their own past actions”.
Giving a historical background on how the State Congress leaders brought President’s Rule on the eve of the last Assembly election, the NPF said that “The might of the Central Government and the Central paramilitary forces were used in an effort to influence the outcome of the election. So, if there were any such malpractices during the last Assembly Election in 2008, and the authorities did nothing to stop them, certainly the Congress party was responsible, and not the NPF.”
The press release said that Congress could not “hijack the people’s mandate” last election and people have “made up their mind to reject the Congress” this time too. Their star campaigners, stated the NPF, will have no impact on the result of the election.
And once again, the NPF reiterated that Nagaland has been forgotten by the central leaders for 10 years, and that the “biggest achievement” of the Congress in Nagaland is that “they could prevent the Prime Minister from visiting Nagaland and the publication of their booklet of false allegations.”
