Dimapur, October 5 (MExN): The NPF central office has issued a clarification in response to the contention of NPF councilors of the Kohima Municipal Council that the party refused decision-intervention during the KMC leadership crisis recently.
A note from the NPF issued by committee members Theyiekielie and KG Kenye informed that while the committee took to earnest task to resolving the issue, five signatories of the no-confidence motion withdrew their signatures. This invalidated the motion and brought the issue to a halt, the committee explained. For the second time, a no-confidence motion was moved against the KMC’s chairperson and the committee yet again tried to resolve the issue. However the matter could not be “streamlined” since the councilors were “sharply divided in their opinions” the committee stated.
For this matter, having exhausted all means to persuade them, the committee “made some observations of the situation and expressed our helplessness under the given circumstances to continue further.” Thus, the fate of the matter was left to democratic process, the committee stated.
“What followed ever since then has been the result of the official procedures implemented according to the Municipal Act where the NPF party as a whole or functionaries at any level cannot have access to or manipulate one’s advantage” the party stated. The entire process was official and in conformity with the regulations of the relevant act and as such, dragging in the name of the party and the president of the NPF into this should be “abhorred” it stated.
Nevertheless, the committee stated that if anyhow there have been official lapses while conducting the procedures, it should be attributed “clearly to the concerned authorities and not to the party leadership since they are not a part of the organization.” The committee hoped that “whatever eventualities hat has taken place will be taken in the right spirit and “good humor.”
