NPF-Congress war of words continues

Dimapur, May 15 (MExN): In the continuing war of words between the NPF and the opposition Congress, the former has repudiated the latter’s charges on several issues which Congressman Hoketo had leveled namely on the IRB, the factional feud and developmental issues.

In a lengthy “clarification” issued by Press Secretary R Paphino, Press Secretary, the NPF stated that the IRB, itself self-explanatory by its nomenclature, comes under the category of central forces like the CRPF, CISF etc which is obligatory to be requisitioned anywhere in the country where and whenever required/demanded by “Delhi”.

“It is awfully irrational on the part of NPCC to capitalize a common concern at the expense of human tragedies. At a juncture like this situation demands concerted effort in addressing the problem instead of adopting the policy of fishing in troubled waters” the NPF stated.

The NPF further maintaining that ‘fratricidal annihilation’ first emerged during the Congress regime and “miserably failed to nip in the bud” when it erupted then and is continuing till today, informed that the DAN government has accorded top priority on the issue and “brought down the clashes to a new low”.

Maintaining that this effort has been appreciated by the people except by “some ill-intended Congress leaders”, the NPF asked the NPCC not to pass the buck of their creation to the DAN government. “Now if they bear the genuine concern for the people as true opposition party and in true democratic tradition, they should try again by extending full and unflinching co-operation to the DAN government instead of barking at its own shadow” the party stated.

Further on the charge of confining development only to Kohima the NPF reminded that the congress had done nothing “during their long and comfortable 10 years of inning”.

Ten years of Congress rule was used as an opportunity for aggrandizement by Congress leaders and workers, it stated. “More or less, it was the government of individual developments” the NPF said adding that apart from being considered the capital of Nagaland, “the DAN government has a firm conviction that Kohima belongs to all regardless of tribe, community etc.”
