NPF flays Congress’s JLF exit threat

Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) is ‘jolted’ that the state Congress unit is ‘having second thoughts’ about the latter’s role in the Joint Legislators’ Forum. Nonetheless, the NPF took the occasion to take more shots at the Congress, by stating that the latter is ‘threatening’ and ‘blackmailing.’
A note from the NPF’s media cell said the Congress party has expressed second thoughts about their role in the Joint Legislators’ Forum “which has come as a jolt”. Moreover, the note said the NPF is “quite at a loss to note the irrational conclusion” drawn by the Congress party “on Imchen” and “his take” on the Naga political issue.
The recent intent of the Congress party to wash off their hand from the JLF ‘in the event of their self-manufactured eventualities is nothing but clear black mail at work’, the NPF explained.
“In order to conceal their shallowness on the Naga political issue, the Congress party is trying to square off Imchen by harping unethical remarks which have belittled the Congress party to a great extent. The correctness of the fact is, Imchen has not contradicted the stand of the ruling dispensation on issue of public importance and the desperate attempt of the Congress party to term Imchen’s statements as crazy is too unbecoming and childish for a mature political party.”
The “anticipated move” of the Congress party with regard to the forum, ‘underscores their agenda to derail the peace process and to pollute the law and order situation,’ the note asserted.
The NPF was of the view that the attitude of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee towards the Joint Legislature Forum “stands exposed and their overall perspective shall tantamount to betrayal of people’s trust in due course of time.”
The Congress party should “ground their utterances” on “factual reality” and should not “threaten the people” as they have ‘heard their thunderstorm many a time,’ the NPF added.
