NPF is for ENPO districts: Rio

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 16 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today said that the NPF government has sincere concern for the ENPO districts of Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire. He pointed out that this concern has been expressed through actions and genuine development works on the ground. “Over and above developmental works, we have taken policy decisions that are aimed at uplifment of the backward areas,” the Chief Minister said according to a press note issued here.

Speaking at NPF rallies in Sheanghah Chingnyu village under Mon’s Phomching assembly segment and Shamator in Tuensang district, the Chief Minister highlighted some of the several initiatives which the DAN government had undertaken.

Rio stated that some of the highlights of the DAN government’s initiatives include creation of DUDA, creation of two new districts of Kiphire and Longleng, upgradation of two SDO (C) headquarters, upgradation of 5 EAC headquarters, recognition of 37 new villages, creation of 4 new police stations, upgradation of 4 police stations, creation of 7 new RD blocks, Zisaji Presidency College and Yingli College taken over by the government and new projects in the form of B. Ed College at Tuensang and polytechnic colleges at Mon and Tuensang underway. These, he said are just a few initiatives that come to mind immediately and added that dozens of other significant programs and policies have benefited the people of ENPO areas.

Rio further said that the Congress leaders who have been visiting these districts have only criticism for the NPF but they themselves have failed to bring development and positive programmes for the people when they were in power.

Rio said that the programmes and policies of the NPF were meant to improve the overall condition of the people with visionary programmes and policies.

He said that the tall promises of the Congress are immaterial as the NPF was confident of returning to form the government with an absolute majority.

Former Leader of Opposition Chingwang Konyak accompanied the Chief Minister in today’s schedule and also addressed the rallies. Konyak in his address stressed that the Congress remains divided and no amount of statements on their unity would convince the people. He said that when a party has four Presidents and three leaders of opposition in five years, the cracks and divisions in the party is there for all to see.
