The Naga People’s Front (NPF) on June 3 formally launched its campaign for the forthcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) by-election to Ward No. 8 (Tsumang B) under Wokha Town Council, expressing confidence in securing the seat and calling for unity among party workers.

The campaign was launched during a programme held at the NPF Wokha Division Office, attended by party leaders, office bearers, youth representatives and supporters.

Addressing the gathering, party leaders stressed the importance of grassroots mobilisation and cautioned workers against complacency despite the party’s growing strength following the merger of former NDPP and NCP members into the NPF.

They called for coordinated efforts among all party wings and urged supporters to reach out to every household in the ward ahead of the election.

The bye-election was described as an important political test for the party, with leaders emphasising that victory would depend on collective effort and strong engagement with voters.

NPF’s intending candidate, Ar Aling Lotha, thanked party leaders and residents of the ward for their trust and support. He pledged to work closely with the community and party functionaries to address local concerns and contribute to the ward’s development if elected.

Speaking at the event, party leaders highlighted Lotha’s professional background as an architect, expressing confidence that his expertise would be beneficial for urban planning and development initiatives within the town.

The programme was chaired by NPF Wokha Division President L Meribemo Kinghen, while the invocation was offered by Working President Lily Kikon. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Amos Odyuo, President of the NPF Youth Wing.
