NPF Kma questions ultimatum served to Shürhozelie

Kohima, August 3 (MExN): The NPF Kohima division has questioned the ultimatum served by “TR Zeliang and his group” to Dr. Shürhozehe Liezietsu to step down as NPF president within 15 days. The division in a statement issued by its Media Cell called it a “mockery in any political party organization.” The division further noted with “deep anguish” the accusation hurled at Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu as being autocratic and trying to create division among the party organizations.

It wondered why the legislature party was questioning the authority of the President for expelling and suspending the “errant” legislators “who are going against the party principle and constitution, when he is, constitutionally, vested with the power to do so, to safeguard the interest of the party.”

Meanwhile, the division asked the legislature party to reply at the earliest as to where in the NPF constitutional provision a legislature wing is authorized to elect an interim president. “…under what provision and articles of the constitution can an expelled and his suspended members elect and interim President when it is known fact that election of the President is done by convening a general convention of the party,” the statement questioned.

The division also reaffirmed to extend its fullest support and cooperation to its party president Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu and called upon all the legislators under Kohima division to respond to the calling notice of the party to withdraw their support to TR Zeliang before the deadline, i.e., August 5, 2017, and come back to the party fold so as to avoid facing disqualification.
