NPF leaders, units back Dr. Shurhozelie, TR Zeliang

Kohima, February 10 (MExN): The Presidents of 13 Naga People’s Front (NPF) divisions and some units of the party have declared endorsement for the NPF President Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu and Chief Minister TR Zeliang.    

Appeal to reconsider demand for CM's resignation

Presidents of the 13 NPF divisions spread all over Nagaland held a consultative meeting in Kohima on February 9 and seriously viewed some of the party men and women participating in the agitation against the government, according to a press release.  

They also endorsed the leadership of Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu and TR Zeliang.  

Expressing support to the DAN legislators’ decision to remain firm under the leadership of Chief Minister TR Zeliang, the presidents of the 13 divisions further urged the latter not to resign claiming that the present government has the “full mandate and support of the entire citizens of Nagaland.”  

The division presidents further appealed to the tribal hohos to reconsider their demand for resignation of the Chief Minister.    

NPF Kohima not to participate in AYO, APO activities

The Kohima Division Executive of the NPF resolved to stand firm and support the leadership of Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu and TR Zeliang during its emergency meeting held on February 8.  

Informing this in a press release, NPF Kohima also appealed to all concerned to come together and reason out what is best for the Nagas and society at large.  

The NPF Kohima while stating that it has been extending support and cooperation to the apex Angami Public Organisation (APO) and the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) against the boycott of the ULB elections further informed that it will no longer participate in any of their activities.  

The decision in this regard was taken consequent to the formation of the “politically motivated” Nagaland Tribes Action Committee (NTAC), it added.    

NPF 56th Noklak A/C expresses full support

The NPF of 56th Noklak Assembly Constituency (A/C) has expressed full support to Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu, TR Zeliang, and Health & Family Welfare Minister P. Longon. A decision in this regard was taken during an emergency meeting held on February 9 at Noklak, a press release from NPF 56th Noklak A/C President P. Peshing and General Secretary Thangpong informed.  

The release said the meeting found no reason for Chief Minister TR Zeliang to resign and assured full support so they complete the full five year term. It asserted that as far as NPF workers from 56th Noklak A/C are concerned, they would fully rally behind the present leadership of the NPF (Central) President, Chief Minister, and Health & Family Welfare Minister.
