NPF Legislature Party demands action against officer

Kohima, April 27 (MExN): The NPF Legislature Party in its meeting held today in Kohima (De Oriental Grand) concluded that the “audacious behavior” of Principal Secretary of RD Department over the “expose” of abnormal fund allocation to a particular village in Dimapur district is “most appalling.” The NPF had made the allegation against the officer through a press release published earlier this month.

“That the said officer could have the temerity to rally support of social organizations against leader of the NPF Legislature Party to the extent of serving an ultimatum to the latter, is most shocking and unbecoming of a Government servant,” asserted a press statement from NPF Legislature Party.

Further, it alleged that the said officer had given “false declaration” in the local media that he had taken over charge of RD department on April 1, 2018. “However, available Government documents show that he had taken over charge of the Department on March 17, 2018,” it said.

With regard to the officer asking the NPF to produce proof and evidences of him indulging in corrupt practices such as taking RD money for himself, issuing of CGI sheets, misuse of department vehicles, office stationeries and so on, the NPF Legislature Party stated, “This is indeed, very strange because the NPF Party had never raised such issues at any point of time, neither in public platform nor through press statements.”

The meeting resolved that the serving of an ultimatum to the Leader of NPF Legislature Party (Leader of Opposition), TR Zeliang is “unprecedented and unacceptable under democratic and parliamentary norms and procedures.”

It maintained that the same is seriously viewed by the NPF Legislature Party for the reason that “the way allegations were levelled against the Leader of Opposition tantamount to questioning the role of every Opposition MLA, inside or outside the Legislative Assembly.”

The NPF Legislature Party further demanded that the government of the day initiates stringent action against the Principal Secretary for “such act of indiscipline as per Service Conduct Rules.”

It also demanded that the Department of Rural Development comes out with MNREGS facts and figures against each and every village under Dimapur district without further delay.
