DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 14 (MExN): The Political Affairs Mission (PAM) of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) met with the leaders of several Naga organizations on September 14 to discuss the Naga political issue and facilitate an early solution.

A press release from the PAM, NPF informed that the mission’s Convenor, TR Zeliang along with a few NPF core members, had an interaction followed by dinner at Police Complex Chumukedima with the leaders of the Naga organizations.

They included the Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF), Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), Tenyimia Public Organisation (TPO), Naga Hoho(NH), Naga Mothers Association ( NMA), Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF). The NTC meanwhile acknowledged the invitation but regretted its inability to attend the meeting due to prior engagements.

Zeliang said that all stakeholders in a single platform is the need of the hour to discuss the possible clear road map and way ahead to facilitate for an early solution. He viewed that unity among all Naga civil organizations is the first step towards attaining solution and lasting peace in the region. He also called upon the gathering for a collective genuine effort to facilitate and not obstruct the political process.

The former Chief Minister noted that the Naga political issue is highly complex, which needs a practical approach, political acumen and high level of understanding between the negotiating parties. “Further positive progress is possible if tribalism, polarization or political colours are kept away on the Naga issue and only true genuine concern for permanent peace and progress,” he stated.

This, he added would ensure that the future of Naga generations and Naga areas are “free from any conflict and enable an ecosystem of self sustenance.”

According to the PAM , the meeting viewed that the “Framework Agreement signed by NSCN (IM) and the Agreed Position by WC NNPG needed deliberation by the GoI for an honorable common final Naga accord, based on the formal talks which concluded on October 31, 2019.” “They were also of the view that all stakeholders be consulted and made signatories of the final Naga accord to rule out any misunderstandings,” the PAM press release said.

It was meanwhile informed that PAM Convenor, TR Zeliang is likely to travel to New Delhi soon to meet central leaders to convey the aspirations of the people for permanent peace in the region and the need for drafting a common Naga accord for early solution.
