
Dimapur, September 8 (MExN): The Minority Wing of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed its full support to the party leadership under Apong Pongener, President; Achumbemo Kikon, MLA and Secretary General; and Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, Leader of the NPF Legislature Party.
In a statement, the Minority Wing said it “deeply appreciates the commitment of the leadership to regional unity, reconciliation, and the safeguarding of the democratic aspirations of the Pan-Nagas in general, and the people of Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh in particular.”
Bishnu Bhattacharjee, President of the NPF Minority Wing (Central), reaffirmed the support from all ranks and files of the Minority Wing to the party president, the Central Executive Council (CEC), and legislators for the call of unity between the present and former leaders of the NPF, as resolved in the CEC meeting held on September 6. “This decision of the party’s highest body is the need of the hour to bring peace, development, and progress to Nagaland in the true spirit of state building,” he said.
The Minority Wing also welcomed the CEC resolution, particularly the appeal inviting all former comrades of the NPF to return “for the larger interest of the party and the people.” It further extended appreciation to Awangbow Newmai, President of the NPF Manipur State Unit, and all NPF MLAs from Manipur for their “wholehearted support to the NPF Central leadership and the resolution taken at the CEC meeting.”
The statement added that the Minority Wing “remains fully committed to working under the constitution of NPF and the leadership of the NPF in strengthening the party” and firmly believes that “the NPF is the only seasoned regional party capable of bringing peace, inclusive development, and lasting solutions for the people of Nagaland.”
