Dimapur, January 5 (MExN): The Naga Peoples Front (NPF) Minority Wing organised a “Social Meet-cum-Greet 2026” on January 4 at the NPF Division office at Landmark Colony, Dimapur.
The programme began with prayers and words of wisdom by leaders from the NPF central leadership and the Minority Wing. The invocation prayer was pronounced by Anand Gurung, general secretary of the Minority Wing, Dimapur division, while the benediction prayer was conducted by Keshak Momin, general secretary of the Minority Wing (Central).
Senior vice-president of NPF Blaise Ilheulung and Nungsang Jamir, co-incharge of the Minority Wing and central general secretary of NPF, addressed the gathering and shared insights into the party’s work culture, principles and activities. They lauded the contribution of non-Naga leaders both before and after statehood and stated that if a dedicated and eligible leader is identified, the NPF would forward a candidate to represent minority communities from the Dimapur-I Assembly Constituency, the only open seat, either as a nominated or elected representative.
Working president of Dimapur NPF Division Sakho Angami highlighted the importance of minority participation in politics. Minority Wing leaders Mahendra Thousen (working president), Apun Naben (working president) and Devendra Rana (vice-president) also shared their experiences with the party.
NPF Central Minority Wing president Bishnu Bhattacharjee extended New Year greetings on behalf of the Minority Wing and its community voters and reaffirmed the wing’s commitment to strengthening the party to the best of its capacity. He stated that the NPF, as the oldest regional party in the Northeast, possesses a clear mandate from the people, enabling it to unite communities and bring development to the region through dedicated service. The meeting was chaired by Roshan Tamang, vice-president of the Minority Wing, while vote of thanks was proposed by Roshan BK, general secretary of the NPF Minority Wing.
