NPF plea for restraint and patience

Onus on elected MLAs to honestly adhere to  the commitments, deliver goods to the people

Dimapur, March 8 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front today said that it was “deeply anguished by the spade of extreme, self destructive acts meted out by suspected unruly miscreants to our own properties,” and hence appealed for “restraint and patience.”

In a press statement, the vice president of the NPF, Press Bureau, TL Merry stated that citizens of Nagaland and the electorate have reposed faith upon the NPF led DAN coalition with a “distinct mandate” to run the state government for a consecutive third term. He asserted that the mandate given by the people needs to be “reciprocated with relevance and value of truth, development and stability in terms of meeting the people’s want and desires, preserving and promoting the Naga identity, thereby, paving way towards a bright and secure future for all.”

Merry pointed out that it is now the onus of the elected MLAs adorning the Treasury Bench, in particular, to “honestly adhere to the commitments and work in strict cohesion, deliver goods to the people and ensure that all measure to forge understanding, oneness and unity of all Nagas is pursued.” He urged the leads to keep closeness and faith in almighty God, by whose blessings and people’s support, they are the chosen leaders today.

In reference to the allocation of portfolios to the legislators of the “present jumbo sized Treasure bench,” Merry said it was a “difficult task for the leadership.” He therefore stated that “the members ought to understand and be cooperative, instead of being carried away by narrow inward looking and self-absorption.” He pointed that “no portfolio should be tagged as small or big, lucrative or barren,” and added, “money does not necessarily count on how much’ but it counts on how it is utilized.”

While stating that no government undertaking department should be perceived as “inferior or lesser important than the other,” Merry noted that the primary and mandatory importance is “the degree of creativity, influencing power, fund raising acumen and administrative ability on the part of the one spearheading the assignment.
