DIMAPUR: The NPF has squarely placed on the Congress the onus of alleged anomalies and discrepancies against the NPF-led DAN Government of Nagaland as an ‘inheritance’ and legacy left by the previous Congress Government.

In a press Statement issued by the Press secretary of the NPF, R. Paphino, the NPF Central Office squarely termed the issues of Rs 365 Crore, law and order situation and school textbooks as matters of corruption which were “inherited from the 10 years of Congress rule”.

Elaborating on the issue of Rs 365 Crore, it stated that the Chief Minister had made it very clear that the DAN Government had inherited the financial burden of the misdeeds and mismanagement from the previous Congress government further pointing out that the grant by the Centre was to wipe out the accumulated deficit. “The Congress had put the entire state of Nagaland into ransom and the DAN Government took (the) initiative to rectify the mischief being done by the Congress. Instead of biting its own tail the Congress should thank the DAN”, Paphino stated.

The NPF also claimed that the DAN Government had inherited the problem of law and order from the Congress. Citing the instance of the peaceful and calm celebration of August 15, it claimed that the DAN Government had put outmost effort in bringing the overall law and order to normalcy in Nagaland. It also asked the Congress not to keep ‘harping on the DAN government’s failures so as to capitalize on the volatile issue but instead co-operate with the State Government and ‘give effort to explore ways and means to arrive at a permanent solution to the impasse’.

On the attack by the Congress on the Gun License racket issue, the NPF termed the matter as “Congress Gun License racket” alleging that the undesirable activity was carried out during the Congress regime, which had now boomeranged on the Congress itself. Drawing a similar line on the school textbook issue, the NPF wondered as to why the Congress party ‘had been constantly whipping up the issue again and again’. It claimed that during the Congress rule only 15-20% textbooks used to be supplied as a result of which gross irregularities dogged their leadership. “Even photocopied textbooks were supplied” it alleged.

Against the backdrop of this situation, Paphino stated, that the DAN government had rectified the process as to restore the educational rights of the students in securing 98% supply of textbooks. “Now, people must judge whether the Congress’ 15% to 20% is right or DAN’s 98% supply of textbooks is genuine, right and justifiable” the statement remarked.
