Kohima, March 27 (MExN): In reaction to ACAUT’s statement on backdoor appointments, Naga People’s Front (NPF) in defense of the government today said the appointments are given to deserving Naga youths who possess requisite qualifications, and not to any outsiders or undeserving candidates.
“The appointments are given to the unemployed youths only. When the honorable Chief Minister has stated on the floor of the august House that mistakes, if any, will not be repeated in the future, what more is expected of the Government of the day?” NPF Central questioned in a rejoinder issued by its Media & Press Bureau.
The rejoinder noted that the attention of NPF Central office has been drawn to the statement of ACAUT published in local dailies on March 27 implicating the party President and Chief Minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu in connection with unstarred question raised in the ongoing assembly session.
It alleged that ACAUT has been “tirelessly working to bring down the government and to bring President’s Rule in the state at the behest of vested interests.” The ACAUT “inciting” youths to vote against NPF party in 2018, it added, “clearly exposes their political intentions.”
The NPF “advised” the ACAUT members to “first clean up their own house first before they launch their hateful tirade against the democratically elected leaders and the government”.
The party accused ACAUT of poking its nose into everything lately “as if it is the sole authority to pass judgment on the daily affairs of the government that is carried out in the best interest of the people.”
It further alleged that the ACAUT members while trying to be champions and crusaders against corruption are “players of back-door politics looking for easy entry by confusing the minds of the general public under the guise of raising corruption issues.”
To begin with, NPF demanded, the ACAUT members should declare their personal incomes and assets both movable and immovable, and the years of public service they have rendered “if they are really clean to talk of corruption-free society.”
“The party challenges ACAUT members to first face election and talk with mandate of the people rather than bark against the mandated government every time it does something for the people,” the NPF rejoinder added.
Meanwhile, NPF stated the party will appreciate any opinion and suggestion placed before the elected authority for corrective measures for the welfare of general masses. “However, we cannot agree to the dire consequential statements every time issues are raised spewing political venom against the NPF party.”
