NPF reiterates demand for clarification from CM on Naga integration and citizenship bill

Kohima, June 18 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) remains adamant in its demand for clarification from the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio regarding his purported statement on Naga “integration” and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.

Although the NDPP and the Chief Minister’s Office (Media Cell) has “struggled to their best to cover up the announcement” of the Chief Minister in Delhi on June 12, 2018 on the two issues, the NPF “once again demand clear clarification under what circumstances prompted the Chief Minister to utter such declarations as the NPF will not allow the Government of the day to play with the interest of the Naga people,” stated a press statement issued by NPF Press Bureau today.

The opposition party asserted that the NDPP’s “de-registration” by the Election Commission of India (ECI) is “coming in a big way making themselves difficult to defend their position, wherein the NDPP had prayed for time extension.”

“Apparently, knowing their weak positions in the court of ECI, Rio has already initiated political discussion with the JDU Supremo, Nitish Kumar – maybe again looking for merger with JDU,” NPF further claimed.

Stating that the NPF is “not interested at all to intervene nor interfere into their internal party messes,” the statement said the party only hopes the “innocent NDPP MLAs do not suffer in the leadership of Rio and his cohorts as the de-registration of the NDPP is imminent for the matter is already at the hands of the ECI court and at the final stage.”

NPF further called it “a pity” that the NDPP, CMO Media Cell had claimed that the former under the leadership of TR Zeliang had not passed any resolutions in the issue of Naga integration.

It reminded that the 9th session of the 12th House held from July 21-27 had allotted two cleared days for discussions on Naga integration and political issues and adopted 5 resolutions, out of which resolution No. 1 was on Naga integration.
