An article written by Joel Nillo Kath published in the local media has criticized the DAN Government and the Chief Minister without any logic or justifications. His point of view is very personalized and not constructive in any manner. The language that he has used is not that of a right thinking person and deserves to be condemned by all right thing Nagas. He has gone to the extent of saying that the Chief Minister of Nagaland is prostituting the Hornbill Festival. Such language and opinion on the most important and popular festival of the Naga people speaks volumes of the writer. The Hornbill Festival is one of the most popular intellectual properties of the Naga people that have been recognised at the national and international level.
The advantages, scope and potentials of the event does not need to be elaborated and is well understood by the people, especially the youth of Nagaland, who are the most important stakeholders of this intellectual property. To say that the head of the state is prostitution this festival is indeed an insult to all Nagas. Perhaps his language and opinion has been formed due to his frustrations. Three consecutive defeats in the assembly elections of his father, Mr. Nillo Rengma, who is a vice president of the Congress, in a crushing manner and the rejection by the people must have created such a frustrated mind. He also attempted to enter the media by starting a tabloid publication which also failed to make an impact, due to a sensationalist approach of the publication. His twisted expression of opinion is perhaps a combination of a frustrated person and politically motivated considering his Congress affiliation and background.
Such opinion is definitely not independent but biased and exposes the background and thinking of the person. We do not want to be personal in our approach but his article and the manner in which he has insulted all Nagas has compelled us to expose his background and let the people of Nagaland know the truth and the nature of the person concerned.
