NPF is royal guard of Naga people: Dr Shürhozelie

Kohima, October 24 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) President, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu on Wednesday termed the NPF as the ‘Royal Guard’ of the Naga people as it stood for the people and represents the identity of the Naga people.

Speaking during the day-long seminar of the NPF Kohima Division at Central Office on October 24, Dr. Shürhozelie reminded the people that NPF was given birth when there was turmoil in the Naga soil.

"The party is to protect the Naga identity and to carry forward the aspiration of the Naga people for the early resolution of the Naga political problem, which has been the top most priority of the party," he added.

Terming the NPF party as not power monger but a party to carry forward the Naga people, Dr. Shürhozelie said that many present Naga leaders have forgotten the political history of the Naga people and run after money and power.

However, the NPF will always stand for the Naga political issue and preservation of the identity of its people, he maintained.

The NPF President also called upon the party workers to remain firm in their principle and be committed to work for the welfare of the Naga people.   NPF Secretary General and the lone MP Rajya Sabha, KG Kenye during his speech informed the gathering that NPF is the only regional party registered in the Election Commission of India that mentions the name ‘Naga’ which signifies the Naga people and its identity.

He also reiterated that the party’s top most priority is to resolve the Naga political issue and since its inception, the NPF is working all out for its resolution amicably.

Kenye also asserted that many forces and factors have tried to dismantle and destabilize the NPF, but God always stand and protect the truth.

Thenucho Tunyi, ex-Minister and advisor to NPF President in his speech stated that in any political journey, many temptations may come but urged the party workers to remain faithful and committed with the party principle and stand as a man of integrity which will be rewarded one day.

The seminar was chaired by Kruzakie kelio, NPF Vice President CoB, welcome address was delivered by Guonei-u Sirie, President Kohima Division and vote of thanks was pronounced by Khrielezo Bio, General Secretary CoB, stated a press release issued by Press Bureau, NPF.

During the seminar, the party adopted the resolution to stand firm and support the leadership of Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, NPF President and TR Zeliang, NPF Legislature Party Leader.

The Division further appreciated the electorate of Nagaland for bestowing their trust in electing 26 NPF MLAs in the last general assembly election and making it the largest single party in the 13th Assembly House and urged the Naga people to continue to support the party and its leaders. It further urged the PDA Government to stand true to their promises made to the people regarding the developmental activities, particularly to pressurize and expedite the ongoing four-lane Kohima-Dimapur Highway for the welfare of the public.
