NPF says Congress is “jealous”

Dimapur, April 23 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) today issued a response to the slew of charges, particularly those associated with details of alleged murky financial dealings and corruption in the government raised by the opposition Congress. The NPF’s media cell simply explained that the Congress in Nagaland is “simply jealous” and “having lost the confidence and mandate of the people of the state, has no option but to resort to rhetoric and publicity stunts to keep itself visible and make its presence felt.”
According to the NPF “practicing and imposing alien cultures has become its only political strategy since it has faced setbacks after setbacks.” Interestingly the NPF said the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee is “also jealous of the position and strength of the DAN government as it, time and again, makes childish comments on the dynamics of the DAN coalition.”
The NPF condescend that “we have refrained from stooping to the level of the Congress and never tried to take any advantage of the internal problems which the NPCC continues to face.”
“However, the Congress (in Nagaland) is obviously uncomfortable of the way the DAN coalition has marched on, and therefore, it is always tempted to issue statement after statement on the DAN’s internal issues. The people will recall that even an internal election of the Congress resulted in violence and disturbance of law and order for the general public.”
That the Congress cannot ‘set its own house in order’, the NPF stated, ‘why is it so bothered about the positive relationship of the NPF with its coalition partners?’
“The DAN continues to extend support to the UPA in Delhi and if the Congress leaders in Nagaland are uncomfortable with this arrangement, then it is for the people to realize the state of jealousy and negativity that continues to engulf the NPCC and its local members.”
The NPF’s media cell did not refer to any of the details relating to finance raised by the opposition. However, it explained this way: “The DAN leadership has always been transparent and has always upheld the sanctity and status of the assembly. It has never avoided any issue in the assembly and given every opportunity to the opposition to highlight any matter without any reservations.”
The party also referred to what it only stated as “a special discussion on the education department” that was ‘set aside in the previous session where the opposition was given all the opportunity to voice its views and opinions’. The ruling party even claimed, “The matters” raised by the Congress members “were all satisfactorily addressed by the government.”
“Further to the above, people need to know that only six Congress MLAs were present in the House when the budget was passed. Are dharnas, shouting slogans in the floor of the assembly, shouting and disallowing the speaker to function not alien culture? Are these habits of the NPCC part of Naga culture?” the NPF queried.
