Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): The former minister for Finance K Therie has stated that the “NPF is stuck to the past”. “Trying to escalate the past to provoke exposes their vindictive minds and it appears they cannot change.”
The former minster in a press note stated that his outlook has always been to look forward for progressive development towards the general interests of our people.
“I neither had nor have any personal grudge against anybody. When the then CLP Leader Shri. I. Imkong buried the Bedrock of Naga Society on 30th Aug. 2005 at Kohima Local Ground, to me, forgiving the past and looking forward can only take Nagas towards a civilized world of opportunities. Further, when the Congress’ policy is clear to find a solution by means of inclusiveness and consensus, I do not see anything controversial. I am consistent that solution must be found through negotiation as in the principles of the Congress,” he said in the note.
Accusing that NPF is more concerned for “money”, he said: “I have the courage to fight on the issue. NPF has no issue. Their issue is money. The NPF is right in saying that I coined the “Peoples Government” tag for the then Govt. However, the DAN govt. subsequently sidelined the mandate of the people “to secure a negotiated settlement” as promised in the Common Minimum Programme; and decided to become a mere facilitator. The inclusion of the words “to secure” does not mean to simply facilitate but rather, it means to explore, mediate and achieve a solution honourable and acceptable to all. Nagas today stand at the crossroads because of DAN’s betrayal to the trust of the people and its exclusive and divisive policy. It is not for my personal gain but it is in the interests of all Nagas to change and not be stuck with the past.”
