
Kohima, August 14 (MExN): Appeals were made today to both groups of Naga People’s Front (NPF) to resolve their issues without causing disturbance.
Angami Public Organisation (APO) appealed to both parties of NPF to settle their internal differences through peaceful means without jeopardizing public peace. In a statement issued by its general secretary, Keviselie Lhousa and advisor, Keneingunyü Sekhose, APO noted that its attention has been drawn to the tense atmosphere in Kohima that has been created due to internal strife within the NPF. It hoped that good sense will prevail and peace and tranquility will be maintained.
In light of the ultimatum issued by NPF Youth Wing, 10 Northern Angami-I A/C against the setting up of temporary NPF office at Hotel Legacy, Bayavü Hill colony, Bayavü Area Panchayat (BAP) in a separate statement also appealed to both sides to resolve their issues and differences without disturbing the peaceful environment in the colony in the best interest of the public and common good. The Panchayat expressed serious concern over the issue and pointed out the serious threat it is posing to the peace and tranquility in the colony.
“The ongoing strife between the two groups is not only creating tension and fear psychosis to denizens of the colony but also disturbing the peaceful environment in the colony,” asserted the statement from Khinyi Woch, chairman and Kechangulie Kense, secretary of Bayavü Area Panchayat. “The BAP with great concern for public safety and welfare, appeals to both the groups to restrain from violence and extremism but rather resolve their differences through reasonable understanding and peaceful means.”
