NPF urges Manipur Govt to resolve compensation issues for NH 137 project

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 14 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed concern over the ongoing suspension of work on National Highway 137, managed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

This highway is essential for the people of Manipur, particularly in the Tamenglong district, as it connects the region with Assam and the rest of Manipur. Timely completion of the project is seen as a crucial factor for promoting economic growth and improving regional accessibility. However, work on NH 137 has been halted due to unresolved compensation issues involving landowners affected by the project.

The NPF has called on the Manipur government to collaborate closely with NHIDCL and the landowners to address these compensation disputes. According to the NPF, resolving these issues promptly is vital to avoid further delays and ensure the early completion of the highway, which would alleviate growing frustration within the local communities. Standing in solidarity with the people of Manipur, especially the Naga community, the NPF emphasized the need for urgent government intervention to resume construction and expedite the project's completion.
