NPF urges political restraint after reported Congress protest at AI Summit

Kohima, February 21 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed strong disapproval of the disruption reportedly caused by members of the Indian National Congress during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on February 20.

In a statement, the NPF said it fully respects the democratic right to protest and recognises dissent as an essential element of India’s democratic framework. However, it termed the reported interruption of a global summit, at a time when India was presenting its technological progress and leadership to the international community, as unfortunate and ill-timed. It stated that such actions risk undermining the nation’s image and distracting from its strategic priorities.

The party noted that the India AI Impact Summit 2026 was an official Government of India programme and not a party event. It stated that the summit was attended by international delegates, technology leaders, investors and policymakers, and served as a platform to showcase India’s innovation, stability and policy commitment to the world.

The NPF appealed to all political parties to exercise restraint and to refrain from using international forums for partisan confrontation. It stated that disagreements, however strongly felt, should be expressed through Parliament and other constitutional mechanisms, where they can be debated responsibly and transparently, adding that national interest must take precedence over party politics.
