
Dimapur, June 18 (MExN): The Nagaland People’s Front has welcomed the joint declaration of the “covenant of reconciliation” by the three leaders of different Naga National groups at Chaig Mai, Thailand.
KG Kenye, secretary general, NPF in a press release today “heartily welcomed the latest development” initiated by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR).
The NPF in the press note stated, “After much persuasion and efforts the leaders have realized the need to share the frontlines in helping to resolve the indo Naga political issue, and it is with this belief that a pledge has been made.” The NPF expressed hope that “this step will be the foundation upon which trust and confidence will be built heading towards a peaceful resolution amongst the negotiating parties.”
The “Covenant of Reconciliation” was jointly signed by Isak Chishi Swu, Chairman of NSCN/GPRN, SS Khaplang, Chairman of GPRN/NSCN and “Brig (Retd)” S Singnya, ‘Kedahge (president)’ FGN. The three leaders at the joint declaration resolved “to continue to work together in this spirit of love, non violence, peace and respect to resolve outstanding issues amongst us”.
Lauding the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) for its “tireless and earnest efforts” made over the years, the NPF reaffirmed its commitment to extend “undaunted support” to all individuals and groups engaged in the peace process. NPF further prayed for “God’s guidance” upon the Forum and the reconciliation movement.
