DIMAPUR, JUNE 21 (MExN): The NPF has described the appointment of Metongmeren IAS (Rtd.) as Vigilance Commissioner to be “yet another testimony of the DAN government’s sincerity towards social justice and response to the desires and wishes of the people under the articulate leadership of the Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio.
“In the contemporary social and governmental functional orders, though it has become an ardent necessity to have autonomous functioning of an institution like Vigilance Commission, there has been no independent head of office for too long a period which was not in the best interest of social justice”, stated Chubatemjen Ao, Secretary General NPF in a press communiqué. Pointing to the recent constitution of the Information Commission headed by the Chief Information Commissioner and the appointment of a full fledged Vigilance Commissioner, the NPF stated that it will not only deliver the needed judicious and timely services to the general public and the affected sections of society, but also will make the functioning of the government more transparent.
While congratulating Mr Metongmeren for his deserving appointment to the prestigious office, the NPF pointed out that it was expected that with his vast and varied legal and administrative experiences, as one of the illustrious officers in the State till recently, the new Vigilance Commissioner would shoulder responsibilities reposed on him with distinction and deliver justice through prompt dispensation.
