NPP Nagaland State Unit celebrated the 79th Independence Day at its state headquarters.

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 15 (MExN): The National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland State Unit celebrated the 79th Independence Day at its State Headquarters here with dignity, unity and patriotic spirit.

The programme was attended by State officials, leaders from the party’s frontal wings -Youth, Women and Minority -along with district-level functionaries, senior members and grassroots workers from across the State.

According to a press release, the day’s proceedings began with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by NPP Nagaland Vice-President K. James Vizo, followed by the National Anthem.

In his address, Vizo called upon party members to value the sacrifices of the nation’s freedom fighters, who endured hardship, imprisonment and even death to secure India’s independence. “Freedom was not gifted to us — it was earned with courage, resilience and sacrifice. As inheritors of that legacy, we must honour it by serving our people with dedication and integrity,” he said.

Highlighting the NPP’s leadership approach, he said the party remained committed to protecting the rights of all communities, particularly minorities, while ensuring equitable development across the State. He stressed that unity, discipline and mutual respect were essential for a political movement to grow strong and credible in the public eye.

“Under the NPP banner, our vision is not limited to speeches or promises. We aim to bring tangible development, good governance and people-first leadership, as demonstrated in other States,” Vizo said, urging party workers to embody love, humility and service, and to be role models in their localities.

Following the flag hoisting, a brief meeting was held indoors. NPP General Secretary (IPR & Spokesperson) Ranjit Singhvi told members that the strength of a political organisation lay in internal coordination and discipline. He called on units at all levels to work in synergy to achieve the party’s objectives, while upholding its protocols and principles.

State Secretary Khehoshe Sema also addressed the gathering, urging members to seek God’s guidance in all undertakings. He said that as a party rooted in Christian values, NPP members should reflect truth, justice and service in both political and personal life.

The programme concluded with fellowship over light refreshments, during which members renewed their resolve to strengthen the NPP’s presence and serve the people of Nagaland with vision, integrity and unity of purpose.
