The National People’s Party (NPP) today claimed that it is the only national political party in India that can fulfill the aspirations of the North East people including the ST/SCs and other minority groups.
Addressing a press conference here at the NPP office, NPP leaders said if the NE citizens at large feel that the North Eastern states should be united under a common political platform, then the NPP which stands for “One North East, one voice” is the only way out.
Among others, NPP leaders present in the press conference included newly appointed national secretaries - Paknba Bage (in-charge Nagaland, Paknga Bage) and Sasank Ghatraj (in-charge Minority Affairs), NPP Nagaland state president, Ato Yepthomi, and former parliamentary secretary, Deo Nukhu.
National secretary, in-charge Nagaland, Paknba Bage, said if NE people are united under a common political party, then political and economic inequalities would end and even discrimination faced by NE people in mainland India can be addressed effectively.
Bage also said the NPP with “regional aspiration and national outlook” also informed that the party which has presently five district units (Dimapur, Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang and Kiphire) would soon set up offices in the remaining six districts.
Ghatraj said the NPP’s vision is for a pan NE political front and projecting a common political platform where the various NE people and communities can thrive together and co-exist in harmony.
He also reminded that NPP is the only recognized national political party from the North East.
Earlier, addressing the felicitation programme of the two newly appointed NPP national secretaries, the NPP Nagaland State president, Ato Yepthomi, said the appointments come as a huge encouragement for the party workers as the national president had advocated democracy and inclusiveness to the NPP family by rewarding the young leaders for their hard work and integrity.
The State president said NPP being a “young party”, the party workers have to work with full dedication for the vision and mission of the party.
“We have to make NPP a cadre based party so that we touch and settle in the hearts and minds of the people. We must always put the ideologies and principles of the party before us at all instances. It is only normal to have differences in ideas and thoughts but the vision and mission must be common”, Yepthomi said.
General secretary (Hq), Aolemba Longkumer, delivered welcome speech and state executive convenor, Dr. Andrew Ahoto, proposed vote of thanks. NPP state working president, Ringo Odyuo, chaired the felicitation programme.
