Dimapur, December 4 (MExN): Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) has enquired about the status of four projects in Dimapur district for which the government has already sanctioned Rs. 6.66 crore. For the projects, the Department of Planning & Co-ordination (DoPC), Government of Nagaland acquired plots of land in four different locations for Rs. 6.66 crore during 2013-2014 and 2016-17, maintained a press release from NPRAAF Information & Publicity Cell.
A total of eight cheques amounting to Rs 4.53 crore was forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur on December 20, 2016 by DoPC, while an amount of Rs 12,00,000/- and Rs 2,00,64,325/- was released earlier in 2013-14 as part payment for two projects, it informed.
While the total amount for the four plots released in 2016-17 comes to Rs 4,53,75,056/-, the addition of the payment made in 2013-14 for two projects make the total amount of Rs 6,66,39,386 (66639381), NPRAAF said. The projects include setting up of two power lines, establishment of 1st NAP Company, and one Agur factory.
Meanwhile, the Forum stated the huge amount of Rs 5.66 crore paid for Agur factory was “quite astonishing” and wondered “whether the factory exists or any works in this connection has ever started at the acquired site.”
“It is learnt that huge payments have also been made for setting up Agur factory in other districts,” it further alleged. In this connection, NPRAAF urged upon the responsible department to “enlighten the public on the status of the four projects and payments made for acquisition of land in various districts.”
