NPRAAF says denied RTI info, to approach CIC

DIMAPUR, JUNE 8 (MExN): The Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) has decided to approach the Central Information Commission (CIC) New Delhi for denial of information by the State Government on the facilities provided to the non- legislators recently appointed in the rank of Cabinet Ministers and Ministers of State, while also seeking to know under which provision of Law the appointments were made.

A press note from the NPRAAF informed that its president filed an RTI on May 7 in the Chief Secretary Office seeking information under RTI Act seeking the aforesaid information. NPRAAF were informed by the PIO Chief Secretary Office that, the RTI application was forwarded to Cabinet Secretariat on May 8, however no information was received from both ends.

Meanwhile, the NPRAAF also intimated the Departments of Land Resource, PHE and Rural Development not to further delay the information sought by the forum on May 7. Failing to furnish the information by June 7, the matter will be taken up to CIC Delhi, it cautioned.

It further stated that the NPRAAF has no faith in the first Appellate Authority and State information Commission (SIC), as the SIC had been approached on May 24 after the Home Department denied information on High Power Committee (HPC) report headed by Justice HK Sema.

“However to this day information is denied on various pretext of law," it said.
