In order to reinforce legitimate demands for judicious and speedy dispensation of justice in the NPSC scandal, the Naga Students’ Federation today submitted a ‘supplementary memo’ to the chief minister in regard to their ultimatum which expired June 30. The memo has demanded  removal of the parliamentary secretary for Industries & Commerce for hampering investigations into the NPSC.  Following the expiry of their ultimatum submitted to the CM’s office, the NSF in their memo said that the dateline has expired but there has not even been a hint of fulfilling the charter of demands of the federation. The NSF said although the meeting between the federation’s officials and the CM’s cabinet on June 19 did touch a little bit on the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) scandal, no concrete assurance was given to the NSF.

The memo, which was appended by NSF president Mutsikhoyo Yhobu and general secretary O Wati Jamir, expressed strong resentment that the whole process of investigation into the NPSC is being intensely hampered because the government ‘is still harboring the parliamentary secretary of Industries & Commerce and hosts of government servants whose sons and daughters have been involved in the present scandal’.  The NSF said two sons of the parliamentary secretary besides sons and daughters of government servants along with those candidates who were found guilty of swapping answerscripts were already being debarred by the NPSC for a period of 3 years from applying as well as appearing any competitive examination conducted by NPSC. There is no other proof required as such for the government to initiate befitting action against the parliamentary secretary as well as the accused government servants in this very regard, NSF said.

Urging the CM’s office to take note that, in addition to the rest of the demands of the NSF, the federation made clear on its demand for immediate removal of the parliamentary secretary of Industries & Commerce from the present NPF-led DAN ministry. Suspension or any similar appropriate action against those government servants whose sons and daughters were involved in the scandal, is also demanded for.

Briefing Media persons at the NSF office chamber this afternoon, NSF president Mutsikhoyo Yhobu said ‘despite our repeated representations submitted to the government on several occasions in regards to this very issue, the government has not given a response to the federation till date’. Accusing the government of always turning a deaf ear to the federation, Yhobu cautioned that failing to redress the charter of demands would invite the NSF’s own course of action at any moment

When queried of what the agitation would be, Yhobu said that the stir would be pursued in phases. He however did not disclose the details.
