TUENSANG, JANUARY 17 (MExN): Minister for NPWD, Housing & Mechanical Engineering, P Bashang Chang during his recent visit to Tuensang Town inspected the road construction from Bazaar police point to High School junction and lamented that the work carried out was “totally unsatisfactory.”
According to a press release, the Minister questioned the contractor and workers with regards to quality and workmanship and specified that, it is disrespectful to the people of Tuensang.
During the inspection which was carried out in the presence of the District Administration and concerned department, the Minister advised the contractor and construction site in-charge and labours to redo the botched construction works in the interest of the public. He assured the citizens that unless the work is completed in a satisfactory manner, remaining pending bill will not be released.
Meanwhile, under the initiative of the Minister along with department officials of Mechanical Engineering and PHE, drainage linkage between Yungphaang Village and Tuensang Town has been diverted since the existing drainage system does not serve the purpose and getting clogged regularly during monsoon season due to landslides, thereby, creating severe inconvenience to the frequent motorist and pedestrians.
Further, the Minister and his wife, Alem Bashang and BJP party official inspected the road connectivity to the burial ground availed by various wards and sectors especially Jail Colony and Post Office sector. The Minister was informed that the citizens were facing untold hardship due to lack of motor-able road accessibility to the burial site and they had to carry the coffin and walk by foot for long distance. Having noted their grievances, the Minister assured to construct a road from the highway to the cemetery within few days.
