Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) has accused the State government of inflating the number of assistance given to registered construction workers from COVID-19 Cess fund.

NPYC President Vilhousielie Kenguruse said that while the State Government on June 15, 2020 had “proudly announced that, through the Labour department an amount of 3.80 crores has been extended assistance to 19,064 registered construction workers from Cess fund by depositing 2000 rupees each through direct transfer to their bank accounts but the reality records obtained from Labour department shows only 9,716 has received 2000 rupees each.”

The share of 9348 registered construction workers were embezzled or vanished in thin air, Kenguruse alleged at the launching of  ‘Rozgar Do’ at Congress Bhavan, Kohima on September 26.

Moreover, the Congress demanded to know, why as many as 14,789 out of 24,455 registered construction workers were denied Cess Fund of Rs 2000 each which was allotted to them, he said.
