NQAS external assessment conducted at Chukitong PHC

Wokha, June 29 (MExN): A two-day external assessment for National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification was conducted at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Chukitong, under Wokha district on June 27 and 28.

The assessment was carried out by Dr. Zunikar Ali, Senior Medical Officer, RNB Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar, Assam, and Dr. Ira Jain, Quality Head, Bhagwati Hospital, New Delhi.

Welcoming the assessors, Chief Medical Officer of Wokha, Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung, expressed hope for a smooth and productive assessment and encouraged the staff to give their best. Dr. Wobenthung Kithan, Medical Officer of Chukitong PHC, presented a brief overview of the centre, including manpower, infrastructure, and available services. He also extended gratitude to the civil society leaders of Chukitong for their continued support in preparing for the evaluation.

Speaking to the staff, Dr. Ira Jain clarified that the assessment was not fault-finding but fact-finding, based on the NQAS checklist, and compared it to an "open book exam." She emphasized the need for staff cooperation throughout the process.

The NQAS initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, aims to enhance the quality of services at public health facilities, focusing on service provision, patient rights, infection control, and quality management.
