NRE commissions 10 KW Solar Power Station

Kohima: The Directorate of Industries & Commerce on February 15 commissioned 10 KW Solar Power Station at its Directorate with Director of Industries & Commerce as the chief guest.

Director, NRE, Er. T.S. Angami gave a short report on the project. He highlighted the technical aspects and operation of the plant and advised the users not to use heaters and other high load devices except computers, printers and other light devices. He said the batteries of the plant turn out so quickly and need to replace after a gap of 6 to 7 years. As of now, the batteries are costing around 7 to 8 lakhs. So far 47 Directorates have been installed Solar Power Plant, he added. He asked the officers and staff of the department to maintain solar panels on regular basis as the efficiency of the panels goes down once it gather dust to as low as 50% from more than 90%.

The chief guest Director of Industries & Commerce, Er. Thekruneituo Kire in his speech expressed gratitude to NRE for taking initiative to install the solar power plant. He said power shortage is always a problem in any projects being undertaken and as such he asked the users to maintain the plant properly. Nagaland is considered as a green pasture as far as power generation is concerned, however law and order situation is not very healthy for the investors to invest in our State, he said.

Joint Director, M. Longkumer chaired the programme while vote of thanks was proposed by Deputy Director, Food Processing Industries, Khrielie Peseyie.
