Kohima, June 2 (MexN): The VDB union, Kohima has thanked BDO Kohima, P Koza, Project Director DRDA, Hillo Semp, Director of Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir, and his staff for organizing a one day sensitization programme on NREGA at RD Directorate, Kohima, on May 22 last where VDB secretaries, VCC, etc., attended.
In a release, President of VDB Union Kohima, Viu Belho, while thanking the above mentioned, informed that the NREGA guideline is being translated into local dialects and photographs of willing workers would be taken in the village. It further stated that job cards are to be prepared for issuance to the willing workers and collection of schemes would be taken up under NREGA on priority basis. It informed that a one day training programme under NREGA for VDB secretaries/VC Chairman would be held after the official launch of NREGA.
It may be mentioned that under NREGA some permissible works are water conservation and water harvesting, drought proofing, including afforestation and tree plantation, irrigation canals and minor irrigation works, rural connectivity, renovation of traditional water bodies, land development et al.
