NRMSATA 2015-16 boycott: VECs extend support

Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): The Nagaland RMSA Teachers’ Association (NRMSATA) 2015-16 today received support from various Village Education Committees (VECs) and SMDC towards its boycott of regular classes starting July 11 over non-payment of salary. The RMSA teachers have not been paid salary for almost six months.    

SDMC GHS Pokhungri

The School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) of GHS Pokhungri under SDEO Meluri, Phek district has appealed to the Education Department to release the pending salaries of the teachers appointed under RMSA. “The government should understand the fact that these teachers have been discharging their duties with sincerity and dedication for the last five months without their salaries,” stated a press release from Hansangthu Thuvury, Chairman, SMDC Pokhungri. It also pointed out that the class boycott by the teachers will jeopardize effective and quality education imparted to the students; hence, appealed to the department to release the pending salaries at the earliest.    

VEC Nyang village

The VEC of Nyang village under Longleng district extended full support and solidarity to the cause of the NRMSATA 2015-16 regarding the non-release of their salaries. “As such we endorse this letter to support their cause,” stated Chingak Phom, Chairman, VEC Nyang village.    

VEC Tamlu village

Expressing sadness to learn that the NRMSATA 2015-16 are not paid “without any reason” from the authority concerned, L. Longly, Chairman, VEC Tamlu village gave his full support for their cause.    

VEC Bhumnyu

Chairman of VEC Bhumnyu, Chingpu also endorsed the ‘No Pay, No Work’ of NRMSATA 2015-16. “After carefully reviewing the problems faced by the aggrieved teachers, I give my full support and solidarity for their cause,” he stated, requesting the authority concerned to release their pending salaries at the earliest.    

VEC K. Basa

VEC Khulazu Basa also appealed to the authority concerned to view the issue seriously so that the deserving teachers get their due share in time-bound manner and they will be more motivated in serving the students in the days to come.
