DIMAPUR, AUGUST 24 (MExN): With the State Government failing to clarify on the Official Memorandum (OM) for reduction of RMSA teachers’ salary, the Nagaland RMSA Teachers Association 2016 has called for an indefinite boycott of classes from August 27 as its 1st phase of agitation.
While the OM maintained that the reduction of salary was a directive of the MHRD as a policy of the merger of SSA and RMSA into Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, the NRMSATA highlighted that the SSA draft document only states the central share of the scheme which was- for Primary teachers, up to Rs 15000 per month, for Upper Primary teachers, up to Rs 20000 per month and for Secondary teachers, up to Rs 25000 per month.
The Draft Document also mentions that salary structure will be determined by the state norms for salaries. Therefore, the fixation of Rs. 25000 per month for secondary teachers does not indicate the actual salary but simply the fund sharing pattern, the Association pointed out.
It also revealed that as per the project approval board meeting minutes for Nagaland State, Rs. 10171.12 lakh was estimated for the salary of teachers as per the norms of the scheme and the balance amount to be met by the state out of its own resources.
On recruitment of teachers, the Association maintained that the Draft Document has lain down that teachers will be recruited as per the terms and conditions of the State /UTs. As such, the Association questioned on what was the actual terms and conditions of the Nagaland State for recruitment and why there is different categories of teachers based on the nature of appointment when everyone has gone through the same mode of recruitment i.e written exam and viva voce.
Basing on the above points, the Association has demanded equal treatment of all teachers under the new scheme Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and demanded the government to issue new appointment orders to all the teachers irrespective of erstwhile schemes with the same terms and conditions.
In a separate notification, the Association has called for a meeting of its Central Executives and District Convenors on August 28 at TU building Kohima from 10:30am onwards. It also asked all its members to be mentally and physically prepared as the agitation is expected to intensify.
