NRPO and NRSU reaffirm Chenmoho Resolution

Nokhu, April 7 (MExN):  A joint coordination meeting between the Nokhu Range Public Organisation (NRPO) and Nokhu Range Students’ Union (NRSU) has April 4 resolved to uphold two resolutions concerning ongoing demand of Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT).

The resolutions are the Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation (ENPO)’s Chenmoho Resolution passed on February 24, 2024 and the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) Public Resolution on March 30, 2024 issued from Noklak underscoring the “collective stance of the Eastern Naga community on pressing issues concerning the FNT.

Accordingly, the house unanimously resolved to uphold and reaffirm these resolutions, emphasising the significance provisions in addressing the demands and concerns of the Eastern Naga people, stated a press release from the NRPO.

As part of this reaffirmation, the NRPO and NRSU stand committed to abstaining from participation in any forms of electoral processes, be it Central or State Elections, it said.

This decision reflects the disappointment stemming from perceived unmet promises by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India(GoI)  and underscores the resolve of the Eastern Nagaland People to pursue the legitimate aspirations through peaceful and democratic means, it added.

In a joint statement, NRPO President Thiamo and NRSU President Pongchiu also made an “earnest” appeal to all segments of Naga society, urging unity in supporting the demands put forth by the ENPO rather than engaging in mutual blame.

They further stressed on the “enduring bond of brotherhood among the Eastern Nagas and other Naga communities, affirming that this unity will persist for generations, regardless of the GoI’s decision on FNT.

The organisations also highlighted the importance of solidarity and collaboration among all Naga groups in advocating for their collective interests and the need for a united front in addressing the challenges and concerns faced by the Naga people”.

The duo also expressed gratitude to the leaders of ENPO for leadership in championing the demand for the FNT and advocating for the rightful aspirations of the Eastern People of Nagaland.
