NRSFS seminar on Inspiring Young Minds

Dimapur, April 5 (MExN): The Naga Research Scholars’ Forum Shillong (NRSFS) is organizing one day seminar on the theme “Inspiring Young Minds in the Pursuit of Research and Development” on April 30, 2011 at the Naga Community Hall Shillong, from 10:00 am onwards.

Informed that the seminar will focus in a broad range of fields with the following subthemes: Conservation and Promotion of the Naga Culture, Socio-political, Cultural Issues and Challenges, Radicalization of the Naga Economic Outlook, Impact of Globalization on the Pursuit of Education, Education Systems vs. Professionalism, Contours of Research in English from Naga Perspective, Land use, land change in Nagaland, Assessment, Conservation and Utilization of Bio-diversity, and Innovation in Scientific Research.
Nagas are facing various challenges including socio-political, cultural issues, imbalances in economic development, educational system, environmental deterioration, threats in public health and life etc. Research and development plays an important role in addressing those problems to meet the remaining and emerging needs of our society. The note also mentioned that this enlightening seminar is designed for the young minds to have an opportunity to be inspired and to be part of the global community who are adamant in making our environment a better place to live in. The forum aims to create a platform and to bring young Naga researchers together to exchange ideas and findings in research and development with special reference to the Naga community. All these will be addressed and attended by the Naga scholars who are pursuing research in their respective field. The seminar would be graced by T. Imtiwapang Aier, NCS, Assistant Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, Shillong, as the chief guest. It would also feature invited speaker Amba Jamir a development consultant and Director of The Missing Link (TML India). A talk on the seminar theme will be delivered by Dr Xavier P Mao, Associate professor Department of Philosophy NEHU, Shillong. The forum also aims to publish selected papers in a book, a multidisciplinary approach, which could be used as a long term reference rather than simply a mirror image of the actual event.
