NSACS conducts 2nd state level Red Run 2024 in Kohima

In a bid to raise awareness on HIV, the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) under the aegis of National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) today conducted 2nd State Level Red Run 2024 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

The participants took pledge to raise HIV awareness, promoting education, testing and compassion.

“I run this race as a symbol of hope, commitment, and the collective fight for a healthier, more informed society. Together, we can overcome HIV,” the participants pledged, which was administered by S Tainiu, Additional Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland.

In her address, Tainiu maintained that Red Run has proved as an effective means to create awareness on HIV in the state.
“It is source of hope for everyone of us,” she said.

“When you are young, when you are in good health, try to do something good and try to bring changes in every aspect of life,” she told the youngsters.

Stating that HIV has negative impact to personal life as well as the family and the society, Tainiu said “Let us continue to inspire others and continue to create awareness for a healthier world.”

‘Be an agent of awareness’
“Starting today, each participant becomes an agent of awareness” said NSACS Project Director Dr. Ahu Sekhose and called upon the participants to continue to raise awareness on HIV.  

He thanked the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Kohima District Athletics Association, Angami Students’ Union, Nagaland State Bharat Scouts & Guides, District Administration and police for their support towards the success of the Red Run event.

Altogether, 16 district winners- comprising 53 youngsters joined the Run for 10 KM (IG Stadium-New Secretariat via High School Junction- IG Stadium).

The general category witnessed the participation of 200 persons for 3 km run (IG Stadium- KMC Taxi Parking- IG Stadium).

Male Category: 1st- Witangbo N. Chewang (Peren); 2nd-Nagalong T Tikhir (Dimapur) 

Female Category: 1st- Tongkem K (Noklak); 2nd- Moniu C (Noklak)
