Dimapur, August 15 (MExN): Expressing uncertainty whether “compulsive lying is a psychiatric, congenital, inherited or acquired disease” the BJP stated that cases such as the recent NSACS fraud scandal involving one Richard Humtsoe continues to entertain suspicions and causing further embarrassment in social circles.
Stating that the above mentioned individual is one such example BJP Executive Member Johnny Rengma maintained that the image of Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr TM Lotha has been tarnished due to “compulsive lying” and “such aspersions and his further rejoinder served to muddle the case and continues to entertain our suspicions causing further embarrassment in social circles”.
“The fact of the matter is that funds intended for a purpose be utilized effectively. Nagaland now stands at an alarming 6th position vis-à-vis AIDS in ration to its population I the whole of the country and the public would be more benefited and involved only if NSACS revealed this reason in ‘black and white’ instead of mere publicity alone and leave it at that.’ More must be done concertedly involving everybody because we can never rise to this challenge as a matter of confidentiality or statistics for that matter” the Executive Member Rengma stated.
The BJP also viewed with serious concern the state’s dependency on New Delhi for “virtually all our development” and expressed hope that concern NGOs, government agencies such as the postal department and banks will learn from the (NSACS issue) and show responsibility required in future. The BJP also lauded the State Bank of India (SBI) for quickly detecting the fraud and revealing the fraudster. “This should serve as an eye-opener. Recently Internet or Core-Banking has gained popularity. Efforts must be put to explore more such foolproof and convenient financial mechanisms” Rengma stated and cautioned the people against falling prey to elements who may exploit “our Naga simplicity and inherent sincerity”. The people should remain committed to things that are dear and for the common good, he added.
