Kohima, February 12 (MExN): An awareness programme on ‘HIV, TB and Blood Donation’ was organized by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) at Modern Institute of Teacher Education, Kohima on February 11.

Sentimongla Tzudir, DPO DAPCU highlighted the causes and problems of HIV. She talked about the different stages of HIV and AIDS, ways of transmission, preventive measures etc. “ABC (Abstinence, Be faithful to your sex partners, and/or use a Condom) of prevention is the vital way for AIDS Control and also she mentioned NACO AIDS App, Dial 1097, NACO and NSACS websites are useful for preventing AIDS and HIV information,” she informed. 

Avilie Sekhose, Assistant Director (SIMU) spoke on the importance of Blood Donation. He highlighted the uses of blood donation and blood bank also he taught us the differences about who can donate and who cannot donate blood.

Speaking about Tuberculosis (TB), Vituozolie Kuotsu, DIS DAPCU said that tuberculosis is curable. He shared the testing and diagnosis facilities from Government of Nagaland. He mentioned that the Government of India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched a programme “Tuberculosis (TB) Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” targeting to End Tuberculosis (TB) in the country by 2025. According to the statistics of WHO, India is the highest leading country of Tuberculosis in the world.
