NSCA demand separate counter for male and female pensioners

Kohima, January 23 (MExN): The Nagaland senior citizens have complained that owning to the increasing number of pensioners, they are facing problems to draw payments from the bank and therefore, demand for separate payment counter for male and female pensioners.  

The Nagaland Senior Citizens Association (NSCA) in a press statement addressed to the Chief Manager, SBI, Kohima made the demand for modernizing and upgradation of SBI services by opening a separate counter for male and female- 2013 and also request for providing action taken status on modernization and upgrading the services of SBI, Kohima on opening a separate payment counter for pensioner – November 2016.  

Stating that pensioners who are drawing their pensions at SBI Kohima Main Branch and other branch at Kohima are facing great hardships and sufferings, the Association being empowered as per the NCSA Constitution Art 2 and 4, Section (iv) has been trying to provide a separate payment counter for male and female pensioners and even met authorities concerned in person several times in the past.  

The Association also highlighted that the number of pensioner have been increased to more than 4000 for the North Treasury Kohima alone who are receiving the payment in a single cash counter with the imposition of demonetization w.e.f. 08.11.16 to date.  

“Pensioners are all above 60 years irrespective of gender, physically infirm, mentally weak and persons of incomplete faculties. In short the pensioners are as such that they deserve preferential treatment and care,” Kohima NSCA President Dr. SI Tushi Ao and General Secretary S. Ghunakha Swu added while making the request to set up separate cash counter urgently to enabled the aged and infirm pensioners to receive their pension with honour and dignity and without misery.
