NSCA on framework agreement, other issues

Dimapur, November 5 (MExN): The Nagaland Senior Citizens Association (NSCA) has reiterated its strong support and appreciation with ‘Framework Agreement’ between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) even as it called for an “honourable and peaceful” solution as the sole objective.  

It was one among several other resolutions, passed unanimously at NSCA’s executive meeting held on November 4, informed a press statement from its President S Imkong Tushi Ao and General Secretary S Ghunakha Swu.  

The traditional land should be fully restored in any final settlement, NSCA adopted further maintaining that the special provision enshrined in Article 371 (A) of the Indian Constitution should not be “infringed” upon or “compromised.” All stakeholders must also be taken into consideration in the final settlement, it added.  

Concerning the Rongmei issue, NSCA said that after through discussion, it unanimously reiterated its earlier stand and condemned the recognition of the Rongmei Tribe and demanded its immediate revocation.  

Meanwhile, the NSCA also expressed its strong support and appreciation to the initiative taken by ACAUT and the Coordination Committee on Fuel Adulteration (CCoFA) on issues effecting the economy, health and ecological environment of the state.  

It also expressed shock over the “disgraceful” act of government on November 1 and condemned the “unwarranted” action on agitating teachers. The matter could have settled amicably, it added.  

The NSCA further recognised two new units of its branches – All Nagaland Aphunyemi Elders Forum (ANAEF) in Kohima and Dimapur Sumi Elders Forum (DSEF) in Dimapur.
