NSCB conduct Financial Literacy Camp at Totok Chinglen

Mon, February 9 (MExN): The Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NSCB) Mon Branch becomes the first department to organize an official programme since the establishment of Totok Chinglen Village.  

As part of directive from the Nagaland Agricultural Bank and Rural Development (NABARD), the NSCB Mon branch organized a Financial Literacy Camp (FLC) at Totok Chinglen Village under Mon RD Block on February 8. The FLC was supported under Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) managed by NABARD.   Branch Manager NSCB Mon branch, W. Chemkai Konyak, in his keynote address and also as resource person shared about the schemes at NSCB. The District Program Coordinator (financial inclusion) NSRLM, Mon district, Rajuselie Lhousa, as resource person, spoke on importance of regular practice of the five cardinal principles of SHG. While expressing happiness of being in a new village to participate in the FLC programme, he advised the villagers to maintain every activity of the village in written record.   The village council chairman, Yeangyam Konyak, in his welcome address informed the visiting officials that Totok Chinglen village—a bud of Totok Chingnyu, is still in its infancy stage of establishment. The chairman disclosed to the gathering that NSCB is the first department to have come to organize an official programme in the newly established village. Touching on the history of the village, he said the village—Totok Chinglen, got recognized by the government of Nagaland and got inaugurated on 03-04-2012. There are 107 household with a population of 741. It is situated 15 KM away from Mon town towards Aboi town. The village falls under the traditional authority of Chief Angh of Totok Chingnyu, Tongen Konyak.   The interactive session saw good number of participants taking part having strong desire to pick up knowledge and information about the latest developments taking place in the country apart from State programs. Invocation prayer was pronounced by Pastor, Shelung Konyak, benediction by Shonglem Konyak, women secretary and SHG leader.
