NSCF extends support to NSSATA

KOHIMA, MAY 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Senior Citizens Forum (NSCF) has called the SSA teachers demands as “absolutely genuine” and deserving “swift action” and in this regard, appealed to the concerned authorities to explore every possible means to redress the burning issue before it goes out of proportion in the interest of all.

A press release from the forum’s President Dr. S. I. Toshi, and Secretary S. Ghunakha Swu, informed that NSCF had in an emergency meeting on April 30 among other things discussed the ongoing embroilment between NSSATA and School Education Department about the reported nonpayment of salaries w.e.f. December 2013 till date.
“On close examination, it has been observed that apart from several appeals and memorandum their genuine demands were not given cognition,” NSCF stated.

“Having failed their polite approach, NSSATA had boycotted classes since March 10 demanding immediate release of their pending salaries from November 2013 to date,” NSCF informed and added that this was followed by a sit-in-dharna outside the gate of Nagaland Legislative Assembly on March 20 during the fourth session of the 12th Assembly.

NSCF further informed that another silent sit-in-demonstration outside the Raj Bhavan, Kohima, took place on April 16 culminating in a 15 days ultimatum for release of the pending pays of 2730 SSA teachers. The ultimatum ended April 30.

NSCF expressed regret that the School Education Department authorities had not bothered to take steps to ensure that the pending salaries are disbursed, and stated that the department authorities seem to be in “a deep slumber.”
