PHEK, JULY 30 (MExN): In connection with the firing incident at Phek town on July 25, Chairman, Chakhesang Region. Vepozo of the NSCK (K) sought to make known that in the four hours long battle, the NSCK (K) cadres had maintained restraint so that casualty was not inflicted on the civilian populace.
The Chairman stated that before the arrival of the adversary forces, the Chakhesang people were living peacefully. However, with the “gradual penetration of the IK gang through its nefarious design to segregate the people in the name of factionalism”, it stated that the congenial atmosphere has deteriorated with eye of suspicions looming large. The press statement went on to say that these intricate and peculiar situations in Chakhesang Region have not been comprehended by people of other region resulting in tarnishing the good image and rapport of the NSCK (K) with the general public.
While acknowledging and appreciating the initiatives taken up by the Joint Working Forum of the GBs & DBs Federation, the NSCK (K) stated that it had also conveyed fullest support towards their efforts initially, but were compelled to retract when “the Forum too became the stooge of the IK gang”. This, they added, was amply reflected when the Joint Forum has come out openly condemning and blaming the NSCN (K)for the July 25 incident without ascertaining the real fact leading to the incident. The NSCK (K) further said that it was regrettable and uncalled for on the part of the Joint Forum, the so called age old customary guardians of the Naga society issuing such unacceptable statement without knowing the realities.
